Star Alliance is the first and largest airline alliance in the world and was founded in 1997 by five airlines: Lufthansa, Thai Airways, United Airlines, Air Canada, and Scandinavian Airlines. Presently, Star Alliance has 24 active members and maintains headquarters in Frankfurt, Germany.
Star Alliance has 3332 aircrafts that serve more than 500 million passengers around the world annually. The alliance pulls in an average annual revenue of $140 million USD. With 24 member airlines, Star Alliance has a workforce of almost 400,000. Star Alliance flies 17,000 times daily and lands at 916 airports in 160 countries across the globe.
Member airlines carry the official Star Alliance livery that features a white fuselage and the Star Alliance signature, although Singapore Airlines and Air New Zealand have the Star Alliance logo on the aircraft’s tail instead.
