The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the largest country in the Arabian Peninsula, is also known as The Land of the Two Holy Mosques, namely Mecca and Medina. These two are the holiest places in Islam found within the kingdom, where hundreds of pilgrims arrive every year.
Riyadh is the capital and largest city in Saudi Arabia. It is a fusion of the old and the new, with its modern buildings and old towns and mosques, where camels are said to walk the streets alongside luxury vehicles. Not to be missed in this city is the Kingdom Centre, the award-winning and tallest skyscraper in Saudi Arabia owned by a Saudi prince. It houses business offices, restaurants, a mall, apartments, and a hotel. Visitors can stay at the five-star Four Seasons Hotel at level 30-48 of the tower and enjoy the amenities without having to leave the building. Al Faisaliah Hotel on King Fahad Road is also a top choice for a luxurious sojourn. It is located in a business complex which also contains a mosque, shopping centers, and offices, the highlight being the glass-globe restaurant and lounge capping the building. Other luxury chains include the Intercontinental Hotel, the Marriott, and the Sheraton Riyadh. For moderately-priced accommodation, travelers can stay at the Al Mutlaq Hotel or at the Tulip Inn Olaya House Hotel, both in Riyadh.
A popular tourist destination outside Riyadh, Jeddah is the kingdom's wealthiest city. Nestled at the coast of the Red Sea, it features beautiful beaches where tourists can enjoy the shopping centers and markets, water sports, and the cuisine as well. Luxury hotels include Sheraton and Movenpick. For the budget-conscious, Golden Tulip, Trident, and Boudl Suites will be more suitable.
