The Solomon Islands are located southeast of Papua New Guinea. The country is made up of more than 1,000 islands and remains as a British Commonwealth to this day.

Honiara International Airport is the primary gateway to the country. Solomon Airlines flies regularly to five neighboring countries: Papua New Guinea, Australia, Fiji, New Zealand, and Vanuatu. The fastest route is via Air Pacific from Brisbane, Australia (a maximum of three hours). Air Pacific also flies from Los Angeles to Solomon Islands (24 hours, maximum).

Moreover, Solomon Airlines flies to the other smaller islands that include San Cruz, Santa Ana, Auki, Rennell, Yandina, Seghe, Munda, Gizo, Choieul Bay, and Mono.

Tourism in the islands is stripped down and basic. Although there are a number of resorts in some areas, the rest of the islands remain uninhabited. This is the islands' raw appeal.
