The Mehrabad International Airport was the primary airport of the city of Tehran before it was replaced by the Imam Khomeini International Airport. Today, the engineering and maintenance facilities of Iran's international airline carriers such as the Iran Aseman Airlines and Iran Air are located at Mehrabad International Airport. Imam Khomeini International Airport is the primary airport of the city serving several international airline carriers each day and most international flights to the city fly in to this airport.
The international airlines of Iran include Aria Air, Caspian Airlines, Iran Air, Iran Air Tours, Kish Air and Mahan Air which are the major airlines of Tehran flying to different destinations in the world. Tehran is also a hub for other major international airline carriers based in other foreign countries such as KLM, Aeroflot, Australian Airlines, China Southern Airlines, Emirates, Gulf Air and BMI.
Although traveling to Iran is generally safe, the country was not blessed with the most alluring capital as Tehran is home to much pollution and traffic. The metropolis of Tehran is the busiest in the country and the lack of planning and development within the city has made Tehran a rather underwhelming place to visit.
Tehran experiences hot weather during most of the year except from November to January when it experiences chilly winter months however it seldom snows which makes winters in Tehran generally mild. In the month of February, Tehran experiences wet weather and during the month of March the city begins to warm up and by May the city is hot again.
