Situated in the heart of Fiji, Suva is an ideal starting point for a relaxing vacation. Its climate is tropical all year round with slight seasonal variations, but tropical cyclonic storms can occur from November to April. The best time to visit is probably during June to August. Adventurous travelers who may want to see more of Fiji can take a 45-minute drive to Pacific Harbor, the adventure capital of Fiji, which offers water sports like scuba diving, snorkeling, and water tours. If you prefer your feet dry, get to the nearest sports stadium to support a local rugby match.
Air Pacific and its subsidiary, Pacific Sun, fly within Fiji and the major cities of New Zealand and Australia. No direct flights from the United States are offered, but Air Pacific offers connecting flights into Suva from the international airports of Auckland, Sydney, Melbourne, and Wellington. If that is not an option, Fiji's main airport, Nadi International Airport, serves flights from Air New Zealand and Air Pacific, which fly nonstop to Fiji from Los Angeles and Honolulu. From there, one can stopover and transfer to Suva via domestic routes. Although it will take more time, a stopover flight to Nadi International Airport will save you money before you switch to another carrier to fly into Suva.
