Phu Quoc in the province of Kien Giang is Vietnam's largest island. It is found in the Gulf of Thailand, 45 km from mainland Vietnam and just over eight nautical miles from the province of Kampot in Cambodia. Phu Quoc was largely untouched by the difficulties of the Vietnam War, which is probably why the island has managed to preserve its charm. Today, it is considered one of the most beautiful beach destinations in Asia. Phu Quoc is known by the locals as Koh Tral. Thanks to its spectacular beaches - voted the cleanest in the world - the island is a veritable haven for tourists.

To reach Phu Quoc, passengers from the United States have to book connecting flights, since no direct flights are offered to and from the island. Only one airline, Vietnam Airlines, serves Phu Quoc, flying from Ho Chi Minh City and Rach Gia. About four flights are serviced through Ho Chi Minh and two flights are available from Rach Gia. More flights are scheduled during holidays. If you are looking for cheaper tickets, book your hotel and flight together as a package deal.
