Nagoya, on the island of Honshu, is the third largest city in Japan. It is an important industrial area and one of the busiest ports in the country. Automobile and railway rolling stock manufacture are two of the major industries here. As well as a destination for business, it has popular tourist attractions, such as Nagoya Castle, the Port of Nagoya Public Aquarium, the Tokugawa Art Museum, and the Atsuta Shrine. The Osu district is a popular area for shopping, particularly in the large covered market. For visitors on a touring vacation, the bullet trains (Shinkansen) connect Nagoya, Tokyo, Osaka, and Kyoto.

Finding cheap flights to Nagoya is possible by traveling mid-week, avoiding weekend vacationers and business travel on Mondays. Airfare is also more expensive during the holiday seasons. Regular scheduled flights are available from American cities, including Dallas, Atlanta, Denver, Miami, New York City, San Francisco, Chicago, and Los Angeles. Save money by booking with low cost carriers, such as JAL Express. Alternatively, some passengers choose to travel an indirect route, flying into Bangkok in Thailand or Delhi in India and continuing the trip on a cheap flight to Tokyo or Osaka. The remaining distance can be traveled via train or bus.
