Airports Serving Miami, Florida

The Miami International Airport (MIA), a.k.a. Wilcox Field, is one of the busiest airports in the United States. MIA serves as a gateway to Latin America and serves the vast ethnic Latin American population in the United States. Located just eight miles northwest of the business center of Miami, it is considered the third largest airport behind JFK in New York and LAX in Los Angeles and is a hub for American Airlines, American Eagle, and Executive Air. Miami is also the proposed hub for two new start-up airlines, one of which hopes to use the Eastern Airlines name. Keep your eye out for promotional specials that could result in huge savings.

Fort Lauderdale - Hollywood International Airport (FLL) is located three miles southwest of Miami's central business district. FLL is the largest hub for Spirit Airlines and is also a 'focus' city for Allegiant Air, AirTran Airways and JetBlue. Its proximity to Port Everglades, and the many cruise lines based there, has made it the airport of choice for those bound for the Caribbean. Fort Lauderdale - Hollywood also offers free Wi-Fi throughout the airport. As a hub for low-cost airlines, be sure to check flights into and out of FLL.

Palm Beach International Airport (PBI) is located three miles west of Palm Beach, Florida and about 65 miles north of Miami. You might choose to fly into PBI from selected cities that offer direct flights on low-cost carriers such as Southwest Airlines, Northwest, JetBlue Airways, Air Tran Airways and Spirit Airlines. Two Palm Tran busses provide connections to the West Palm Beach Tri-Rail/Amtrak/Greyhound station. Taking a train from here could be the start to an exciting vacation in the Miami area.
