Noi Bai International Airport is the largest and busiest international airport in Hanoi. It is located 28 miles north of the downtown proper, and travel time takes approximately 30 to 45 minutes. The airport is able to serve 4,000 travelers every hour, with an average of seven million passengers per year, which is currently being expanded to be able to serve up to 12 million passengers this year, and 20 million passengers per year by the year 2020. This airport accounts for one third of the total international visitors to Vietnam.
