Ahmedabad is served by the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport (AMD), named in honor of India's former Deputy Prime Minister. The hub is just 8 km from the center of Ahmedabad and services all international and domestic flights to the city and nearby regions. It averages about 150 flights each day, making it one of the busiest airports in India. Today, the hub is also undergoing expansion in order to increase its capacity and accommodate more visitors within the next few years.
