Hailed as the world's largest continent, Asia not only occupies the largest area on earth, but also houses the world's largest number of people. Located mostly in the eastern and northern parts of the globe, Asia is home to a wide variety of cultures, peoples, heritages, and natural resources unmatched by any other continent.

Home to about 4.1 billion people, Asia indeed is the most populous place in the world. The people living in it are called Asians or Asiatics.

Asians, as a whole, do not have a single characteristic or physical appearance; however, each region of the continent does have a physical trait that is characteristic of said region. Central, Northern, Southern and Western Asians are classified as Caucasians. They characteristically have long noses, high cheekbones, and profiles that are similar to their Western counterparts. But, when it comes to skin, hair, and eye color, some of the populations who belong to these regions have darker complexions, instead of lighter tones that is heavily associated with Caucasians.

Those who live in countries located in the Eastern part of Asia belong to the Mongol race. These people characteristically have slanted eyes, round faces, and high cheekbones. These populations' skin can range from light to reddish in color.

Asians who live in the Southeast region are of the Malay race. They characteristically have brown skin, dark hairs and eyes. However, due to the Western colonization that happened in the past, many of the Mongol and Malay race have been mixed with Caucasian race resulting to a look that is eclectic.

Interestingly enough, even if majority of Asians are Caucasians, people from other parts of the world often associated the word "Asian" to those who are of the Malay and Mongol race.

Religion and language in Asia is varied more than anywhere else in the world. Christianity, Islam, and Buddhism are the major religious players, while Judaism, Confucianism, Sikhism, Jew, Hinduism, and Taoist are just few of the many other religions practiced in Asia. As for language, every country has its own unique dialect. Neighboring countries, however, often have similar tongues, for example, many languages originating from the Southeast region have tongues of Malay origin.
