Airports in the Philippines

The Republic of the Philippines, called the Pearl of the Orient Seas, is an archipelagic nation comprising of 7,107 islands. It is bordered to the east by the Philippine Sea, to the west by the South China Sea and to the south by the Celebes Sea. The country has a varied topography, with mountain islands covered in tropical rainforest with many active volcanoes. There are large plains of arable land, river valleys and rich fishing sources. The country also has a high environment of natural resources in areas of agriculture, nature and minerals. The Philippines has a tropical climate that is usually hot and humid with monsoonal rains during the months of May to November.

The country is divided into three island groups namely Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao and is further divided into seventeen regions, eighty provinces, one hundred cities and over a thousand and five hundred municipalities. The regions are as follows, the Ilocos Region, the Cagayan Valley Region, the Central Luzon Region, the CALABARZON Region, the MIMAROPA Region, the Bicol Region, the Western Visayas Region, the Central Visayas Region, the Eastern Visayas Region, the Zamboanga Peninsula, the Northern Mindanao Region, the Davao Region, the SOCCSKSARGEN Region, the CARAGA Region, the Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao, the Cordillera Administrative Region and the National Capital Region.

There are several international airports in the country. In the capital city alone there are three international airports, the Ninoy Aquino International Airport, the NAIA 2 and the NAIA 3. In the provinces, there is the Diosdado Macapagal International Airport in Angeles City, the Francisco Bangoy International Airport in Davao, the General Santos International Airport in Sarangani Province, the Kalibo International Airport in Aklan, the Laoag International Airport in Laoag City, the Mactan-Cebu International Airport, the Puerto Princesa International Airport in Palawan, the Zamboanga International Airport in Zamboanga City and Bacolod-Silay City International Airport in Silay City.
