Airports in Armenia

The most vital airports in Armenia are Yereyan Yegyard International and Erubini Airport. They are located in Yerevan, the capital city. There are other major domestic airports are in Shinuyar in Goris, Syunik, and Stepanyan.

Yerevan International Airport receives flights from many parts of the world. Some of the world's biggest airlines land there such as the British Airways, Emirates Airlines, and Lufthansa Airlines. Armava, Austrian, and Siberia Airlines fly frequently to Armenia. Most flights out of Armenia land in Vienna International Airport and Heathrow.

In a 2004 a new airport was built for the price of 100 million USD. The airport spans 19.2 thousand square meters and can accommodate 2 million passengers a year. Next year the Armenia government has marked 100 million USD for further upgrading.

Today Yerevan International Airport occupies a 25,000 square meters area. With the rise in tourism, a new parking space has been made. It has a 1,000 vehicle capacity. Moreover, Yerevan is now linked with some of the world's most important cities such as London, Moscow, Paris, and Vienna. Presently there are about 60 routes that fly in and out Armenia.

The Republic of Armenia is a former Soviet republic. It has a land area of 29,800 square kilometers with a population of 3,231,900. Armenia is mountainous and landlocked. It is bordered to the west by Turkey, to the north by Georgia, to the east by Azerbaijan and to the south by Nakchivan. The Armenian economy relies much on investments from abroad. It depends on Russia for its energy sources. Armenian economy has improved a bit since the 1990s but unemployment remains an issue. According to a study on economic freedom, Armenia ranks 28th, forward from other countries like Austria, France, and Portugal.
