Airports in South Pacific

The foremost airport in Australia is Adelaide International Airport in Adelaide. In New Zealand the major gateway is Auckland International Airport. In Guam the biggest airport is Antonio B Won Pat International.

Adelaide Airport services close to 7 million passengers yearly. The airport features high a blend of high tech and functional lay out. AIA handles international carriers like Air New Zealand, Cathay Pacific, Malaysia Airlines , Qantas , and Singapore Airlines. The airport is owned by the Commonwealth Government, but its operations are run by a private firm (Adelaide Airport Limited). AIA started as a replacement for the Parafield Airport. It was rebuilt for expansion in 2005 for $260 million.

Meanwhile Auckland International Airport's departure level is designed to capture the national character: It decked in kiwi motif and New Zealand wildlife. The large windows of the terminal offer a panoramic view of the Manukau Harbor. Moreover, there is a compelling sculpture of New Zealand artist Konstantin Dimopoulos to greet travelers.

Auckland Airport is constantly reinventing its features and services: In 2008 a new arrivals area came up as well as a new pier for bigger aircrafts.

The South Pacific is dominated by the Pacific Ocean and the landmasses are distributed into archipelagic regions. Many of the lands are made of coral atolls and volcanic islands with sparse populations. The region, especially Australia, is home to many of the most exotic animals in the world such as the Kangaroo, the Koala Bear, the Emu and the Duckbilled Platypus. It is also home to the Polynesian aborigines.
