Overview

Midwest Airlines (MEP), formerly Midwest Express (MEP), is an airline subsidiary of Republic Airways Holdings (RPA) based in Oak Creek, Wisconsin. The airline is known for its all-business-class seating and its fresh baked chocolate chip cookies. On June 23, 2009, Republic Airways announced it was acquiring Midwest Airlines. The airline will continue to do business under the same name.

Where do they fly?

Midwest Airlines is based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Midwest Airlines and its regional service, Midwest Connect, serve 33 cities. The airline offers direct flights to many cities, including Minneapolis/St. Paul, San Francisco, Boston, New York, and Washington National.

Baggage

When flying on Midwest Airlines, your bags may not exceed 50 lbs and the outside dimensions may not exceed 62 inches. Your first piece of checked baggage will cost $15 each way, the second piece will cost $25 each way, and each piece over two will cost $100 each way. Bags weighing 50 lbs. to 70 lbs. will incur an extra charge of $50 each way and bags over 70 lbs (but under 100 lbs) will cost an extra $65 each way.

In-flight Services

Midwest Airlines focuses on excellent customer service and states that it has "The best care in the air". Zagat's Airline Survey has ranked Midwest as the #1 domestic airline in the last seven surveys and the 2008 Conde Nast Traveler ranked Midwest Airlines #1 in cabin service. Each Midwest Airlines flight features a two-by-two seating configuration and large leather seats. The airplanes also feature extra space between each seat so that all passengers may enjoy adequate room for their legs. Midwest Airlines is also known for handing out warm chocolate chip cookies on all of their flights.

Airline Alliances

Midwest Airlines has an alliance with Northwest Airlines. You can now purchase a Midwest ticket to many U.S. destinations on flights operated by Northwest. You can also connect your Midwest flight to a Northwest operated flight using a single Midwest ticket. Chautauqua Airlines, Republic Airlines and SkyWest Airlines do business as Midwest Connect.
