Overview

Oman Air is the national commercial airline of Oman with its base at the international airport in Muscat. It started its operation in 1993 as a regional carrie,r and since then it has witnessed rapid growth with time. It has an impressive young fleet of aircraft, which are fuel-efficient and have beautifully designed interiors. It provides connectivity to many places all over the world thus making Muscat a major commercial, industrial and tourism center.

Flying Route

The international flight services of Oman Air include major Gulf destinations like Abu Dhabi, Bahrain, Doha, Jeddah, Riyadh, Kuwait and Dubai from Muscat. It also serves major cities in India like Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kochi, Lucknow, Jaipur and Thiruvananthapuram.

Check-In

Oman Air recommends its passengers arrive at the airport three hours prior to the scheduled departure time. The check-in counters close one hour prior to the scheduled departure. A valid photo identity card (Passport) and a Visa (if required) is needed for check-in at the counter.

b Oman Air also offers the convenience of online check-in for the departures taking place from Muscat and for another 18 airports. The 18 airports are Bahrain, Cairo, Doha, Dubai, Beirut, Amman, Bangkok, Salalah, Delhi, Mumbai, Muscat, Chennai, Jaipur, Hyderabad, Lucknow, Bangalore, Kozhikode and Thiruvananthapuram. The online check-in facility can be used 24 hours in advance of the scheduled departure time.

Baggage

Oman Air allows one hand bag per person weighing 7 ks/15 lbs to be carried as carry-on baggage. The maximum dimension of the baggage should not exceed 115cm/45" (23x41x51 cm/9x16x20"). The business class passengers are allowed a free baggage allowance of 30 kg/66 lbs and the economy class passengers are allowed a baggage of 20 kg/44 lbs to be checked-in. Excess baggage fee would be charged per kg as per the tariff if the weight of check-in baggage were more than the specified limit. The overall maximum dimension of the check-in baggage should not exceed 74 inches and the maximum accepted weight for a single piece of baggage should not exceed 32 kg/70 lbs.

Traveling Infants

Oman Air allows one infant less than two years old to be transported on a lap. It allows one infant per adult. Oman Air does not accept infants less than seven days old. Such infants are allowed only in case of emergency medical treatment with a doctor approved medical certificate. If a separate seat were booked for an infant, then the child fare would be applicable.

Minors

An unaccompanied minor is a child between the ages five and 12 traveling without an adult. Oman Air accepts minors only on direct flights that involve no transfer or overnight stop. If there is a transfer or an overnight stop, then the parent or guardian has to make arrangements for the child at the transfer point. The facility can be reserved by filling out the required form with all the details of the child, details of the journey and the complete details of the parent or the guardian who will receive the child at the destination.

Pets

As a general rule, most of the airlines allow pets such as dog, cat, poultry and pet birds to be transported in a desired carriage (approved by the airline) in a cabin or cargo with a valid health and vaccination certificate. They are then charged as per the excess baggage fee. However, the policy of pets and service animal can be checked with Oman Air at the time of making the reservation.

Frequent Flyer Program

Oman Air offers Sindbad Frequent Flyer program for its passengers. The passengers can register with this program by writing to the airlines or by getting in touch with their frequent flyer contact center or through the e-mail address provided on their website. There are three levels of membership provided: Blue, Silver and Gold. Once the passenger accrues the miles to their credit, they can be redeemed for excess baggage allowance, in-flight duty free discounts, complimentary upgrades, access to lounges and many others. The benefit varies depending upon the type of membership obtained.

In Flight Services

As a part of in-flight service, Oman Air offers complimentary coffee, tea, juice and other beverages. Alcoholic beverages are also available and the economy class passengers can purchase it at a nominal cost. Oman Air also serves snacks and meals on limited flights. Other in-flight services include providing newspaper/magazines and audio/video entertainment facility.
