Indian Airlines is an airline based in Delhi, India which primarily focuses on domestic routes, along with numerous international services to neighboring Asian countries. In 2007, the Indian government approved plans to merge Indian Airlines with Air India. The merger process is presently underway.

Where Do They Fly

Currently Indian Airlines flies to 14 international destinations - Shariah, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, Muscat, Bahrain, Salalah, Doha, Singapore, Kuwait, Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, Dhaka, and Colombo and to 16 Indian Cities - Kozhikode, Kochi, Thiruvananthpuram, Mangalore, Chennai, Tiruchirapally, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Delhi, Pune, Nagpur, Amritsar, Lucknow, Jaipur, Kolkata and Ahmedabad.


Indian Airlines has many types of checking in such as tele check-in, I check-in, self-check-in, city check-in, through check-in, and return check-in. After a payment has been made, passengers will be issued a PNR number and an itinerary receipt at the airport or airline office by the travel agent for reference. Passengers should bring with them the receipt when they report for the flight.


The weight allowance for baggage in Jet Aircraft domestic flights is restricted to 40 kg on executive class for adults and children and 10 kg for infants. Weight allowance on economy is 30 kg for adults and children and 10 kg for infants. When taking the CRJ and ATR, the allowance is lower than the Jet aircraft and international flights are less than 10 pounds. Passengers are advised to always attach a personal identification sticker on checked baggage to prevent a fellow passenger from claiming the wrong baggage by mistake. Before checking in, passengers may be asked to pass all pieces of baggage to be checked in through the x-ray machines operated by the security personnel.

Child Fares

Passengers between the ages of 12 and 30 may be eligible for a discount of 25% on economy class. This varies on the type of the flight and the distance of the travel destination. Infants and children are allowed 50% and 90% discounts respectively on these air fares. There is only one free tour conductor ticket that can be granted for a group of 15 or more passengers. Two child passengers paying 50% of the total adult fare each will be included or counted as one passenger for determining group size.
