Overview

Sky Express is the only regional airline offering cheap flights from Crete to the lavish Greek Islands in the Aegean Sea. Based in Heraklion, Greece, Sky Express operates through the Heraklion International Airport (HER). Sky Express Crete's IATA code is GQ, its ICAO code is SEH and its Callsign is Skystorm. Sky Express travels to twelve destinations and averages 5,800 flights per year.

Where Do They FLy?

Sky Express flies to the Aegean Islands, including Rhodes, Kos, Mytilini, Samos, Kalamata, Mykonos, Santorini, and Ikaria. Just last year, the airline began flying to the islands of Partai, Thessaloniki, Alexandroupoli, and Tirana. Sky Express also offers cheap, private air transportation to companies, groups, and/or individuals who usually could not afford a private trip.

Check-In

Sky Express is a regional airline, operating from an international airport, and they do not offer online check-in services for their customers. Hopefully, they will have that service available for Sky Express guests in the near future. Heraklion International(HER) is their main hub and the major cities they focus on are Rhodes, Santorini, and Thessaloniki. Given that Sky Express operates via an international airport, you should arrive at least two and half hours before your scheduled flight time. When you arrive at the airport, be sure to find the Sky Express check-in counter in order to obtain your boarding passes. Travelers arriving from the U.S., Canada, Japan, Australia, and most European countries do not require a Visa, but do need a passport.

Baggage

All Sky Express passengers are allowed one standard sized carry-on bag that meets airline regulation that must be stored and secured in the overhead compartment. Passengers onboard the Sky Express fleet are also permitted to carry on a purse, diaper bag, and/or laptop computer for their convenience. Travelers may check-in luggage at the Sky Express counter located inside the Heraklion Airport(HER); however, there is a fee of US$4 per pound if the baggage is over fifty-seven lbs. Luggage from fifty-eight to one hundred fifty-seven lbs requires the passenger to book an extra seat. Baggage weighing over one hundred fifty-eight lbs requires the passenger to book two seats. Be sure to let your Sky Express representative know if you have an excessive amount of luggage.

Traveling Infants

On Sky Express flights, infants ages two and under do not require their own seat. However, if a parent feels their infant would be safer or more comfortable in a seat by himself, the parent may choose to purchase a seat for their infant at a reduced rate. As always, parents know what is best for their children. The Sky Express fleet was designed with safety and comfort in mind, which is why they constructed their planes with noise reduction characteristics both in the cabin and out. So, if your flight is scheduled around your little one's naptime; no worries; your baby will sleep like a baby on Sky Express.

Minors

Minor children age twelve to seventeen may fly unaccompanied by an adult as long as the parent or legal guardian pre-arranges the service with a Sky Express travel representative. When arranging for an unaccompanied minor, it is Sky Express' policy that the parent or legal guardian fully understands the transportation policies and procedures of the airline in terms of the minor child flying alone. Be sure to double check when booking your flight that the agent understands it is for an unaccompanied minor.

Pets

Taking man's best friend with you on vacation? Or do you require a service animal, such as a seeing eye dog? No problem with Sky Express! They understand their travelers' needs and accommodate such matters while only charging a slight fee. Be sure to provide a safe, leak-proof kennel and a health certificate from your pet or service animal's veterinarian, and they will take care of your special friend for you so you may rest easy while flying Sky Express. Be sure to let your travel representative know ahead of time that your pet or service animal will be accompanying you on your flight.

Airlines Alliances

Sky Express works with all other major, international airlines that operate within the Heraklion Airport (HER), including Jet Airways, Air Italy, Air Berlin, and Condor Airs, to name a few.
