Overview

RyanAir is a low cost airline based in London, and its largest operations are at the Dublin Airport and London Stansted Airport. RyanAir is the third largest airline in Europe and has the greatest number of international passengers in the world. The airline has been rapidly expanding in the past years. By the end of June 2009, the airline has operated 196 new Boeing aircrafts. The airline is being served by 6,000 employees who have handled over 67 million passengers in 2008 alone.

Check-In

Save time by checking-in online and printing your own boarding card. This should be done 15 days before the flight or at least four hours before the scheduled departure. This service is free of charge, but should only be done by those who are not in need of special attention, not bringing pets, or not bringing baggage that may exceed the allowed weight.

For those who will check-in at the desks, know that the counters close strictly 40 minutes before the departure, so it is best to be at the airport early, or at least two hours before the flight.

Baggage

Checked baggage is any item accepted for check-in that may include personal items, mobility devices, sports equipments and musical instruments. The airline does not accept any item exceeding 32 kg/70 lbs, for safety reasons. A passenger is allowed to check-in up to three bags not exceeding 15 kg/33 lbs which are all subject to applicable charges. Any baggage that exceeds the allowed weight of 15 kg/33 lbs will be charged with a per kg fee.

All passengers are allowed to carry a small carry-on baggage that should not weigh more than 10 kg/22 lbs and should be exactly or less than 55c x 40 x 20 cm (21x16x8") in overall dimensions. Baggage will undergo security check for hazardous materials and liquids that may not be allowed to be carried inside the aircraft.

Traveling Infants

Infants and newborn babies who are eight days to 23 months old are not allowed to sit in their own seat and should travel with an adult who is at least 16 years old. Those who are less than eight days old will not be accepted for boarding and those who are more than two years old will be asked to pay the normal airfare. Passengers who are traveling with infants are advised to call the reservations center at least 24 hours before the flight departure. Proof of age such as birth certificate should be presented upon check-in.

Minors

RyanAir does not offer an unaccompanied minor service for those who are below 14 years old. Minors aged five to 13 should be accompanied by an adult of at least 16 years old at all times. The airline will allow minors who are 14 to 15 years old who are traveling alone to be escorted throughout the flight. The parent or guardian should accompany the child during check-in, should present all necessary documents and should be at the airport until the flight has departed. The person assigned for pick-up should present a valid ID and all information should be similar to those given by the parent or guardian.

Pets

RyanAir does not allow animals or pets of any kind, except for guide dogs and service animals that can be accepted in some flights such as UK-Ireland-UK routes, domestic routes and flights between some European main lands. Passengers who are traveling with guide dogs should be booked at least 24 hours from the flight departure. Otherwise, a passenger might not be allowed to board.

The airline also needs to be pre-advised of any special requirements needed by the guide dog. The airline reserves the right to deny boarding to any guide dog that is sick, or shows aggressive behavior. All needed documents should be presented upon check-in at the airport.

Frequent Flyer Program

RyanAir does not offer any Frequent Flyer Program as of the moment.
