Overview
Air China, established in 1988, is the second largest airline in China and is firmly owned by the Chinese government and operates more than 5,000 flights each week internationally. Air China flies to 120 destinations across the world and operates in Canada out of Vancouver Airport.
Where Do They Fly
Air China's routes extend from China to Asia, the Middle East, North America and Western Europe. The majority of the flights mainly operate from its Beijing hub while a significant number of Asian, European and Australian destinations operate from Shanghai Pudong International Airport.
Check In
Air China offers three of check-in options including tele-check-in, city check-in, and return check-in. Check-in desks close two hours prior to the scheduled flight time of departure
Baggage
Checked baggage on routes between the US and China are subject to weight allowances and limits.
Child Fares
Reduced fares for children between ages two and 11 years old are available and infants below two years old can travel on a parent's or adult's lap at a 90% discount off the published fare of a first class, business class, ot economy class tickets.
Senior Fares
There are currently no senior fares available on Air China.
Pets
Passengers should contact Air China prior to transporting small domestic animals such as dogs, cats, birds or rabbits. Valid certificates and animal quarantine certificates for small animals leaving, entering or passing through China must be provided. Small animals may not be brought into the cabin, but may travel as checked baggage.
Carrying Excess Baggage (Musical Instruments, Strollers, etc.)
Each piece of baggage that exceeds 23 kg in weight and 273 cm in size will be charged at US $25. Musical instruments fewer than 100 cm in length can be carried on board as normal baggage.
In-Flight Service
In-flight service on Air China includes the special request of meals which must be ordered a minimum of 24 hours prior to the flight time of departure. Kosher meals require 72 hour notice before the departure time.
Air Miles
Dynasty Flyer is Air China's frequest flyer program. There are four tiers, three of which are Gold, Emerald, and Paragon. Members may qualify for these elite tiers from earning enough air miles and segments. Elite members are offered more privileges and benefits such as access to the VIP Lounge, a higher checked baggage allowance, and ticket upgrades to a different cabin or seat.
Airline Food
Air China offers various delectable and satisfying meals throughout the flight. Meals vary from the Vegetarian Lacto Meal to meat and fish and special healthy meals for children.
In-Flight Magazine
Dynasty is China Air's in flight magazine published monthly and widely read by passengers on board.
