Overview

Aeromexico was founded in 1934 as Aeronaves de Mexico. It has been known as the second most punctual airline in the whole world. It is also the only Latin American airline that has flights to Asia. The airline company was also one of the founding members of the airline alliance, SkyTeam. Aeromexico's IATA code is AM, its ICAO code is AMX and its Callsign is Aeromexico.

Flying Route

Aeromexico flies to four continents including Asia, Europe and North and South America. It only serves one country in Asia through the Narita International Airport. It also has flights to Paris, France and Barcelona and Madrid, both in Spain.

Aeromexico's major hubs are the Mexico City International Airport in the Federal District in Mexico City and the General Mariano Escobedo International Airport in Nuevo Leon. Meanwhile, its focus cities are Tijuana in Baja, California, Mexico through the Geral Abelardo L. Rodriguez International Airport and Guadalajara International Airport in Guadalajara.

It also flies to Argentina, Brazil, Chile and Peru, and Aeromexico also serves the United States via the following states: Washington, Texas, New York, Nevada, Illinois, Florida, Colorado, California and Arizona.

Check-In

Passengers who will be traveling within Mexico can check-in at least 30 minutes before the flight schedule as long as they do not have baggage. Those with luggage will have to check-in at least one hour before the flight. Passengers must also bring along with them their boarding passes.

Those who do not have a boarding pass may check-in at a kiosk or at the check-in counter at least 60 minutes before the time of departure. Passengers departing from airports in Mexico City, Guadalajara, Cancun, Tijuana and Monterrey must do the check-in process at least 90 minutes before the scheduled departure time.

Baggage

Aeromexico passengers are allowed a free baggage allowance depending on the cabin class they belong to. Those in the Premier class are allowed 30kg/66 lbs of baggage and those in the tourist class are allowed 25kg/55 lbs. Excess baggage will cost 150 pesos per kf, plus VAT.

For international flights, passengers can bring up to two pieces of baggage at 32kg/70lbs each. However, those who are traveling in the tourist class can only bring one piece of luggage, which must not exceed 23kg/50lbs. An excess weight incurred will cost US$100 per kg. Charges may also vary depending on the destination.

Traveling Infants

Children below two years of age are considered infants with Aeromexico. Infants are not allowed to a seat of their own and must therefore sit on their parent's or another adult's lap. They are not charged for airfare; however, they are not subject to tax exemption.

An adult is only allowed to travel with one infant; otherwise, he will have to pay the applicable adults' fare and the minor will have to stay in that seat.

Also, adults traveling with infants are entitled to an additional item that can be brought on board for free, aside from the stroller. The baggage must not exceed a weight of 20kg/44lbs or a length of 1.15m/45in.

Minors

Generally, a passenger between the ages two and 18 is considered a minor. Minors will also be required to bring along with them a proof of identification, as some airports will inspect this. Aeromexico does not state its policies regarding minor passengers such as airfares and rules for unaccompanied minors.

Pets

Pets such as dogs, cats and birds are the only animals allowed for transport by Aeromexico. There will be charges for each pet brought, and this fee will be separate from the fees of other baggage. If planning to bring other species of animals, they will have to be brought to the cargo department.

Charges for transporting pets also depend on the place of destination. It starts at US$45 for flights in Mexico, up to US$220 for trips to Asia. Inquiries regarding the transportation of pets may be done by calling Aeromexico's reservations office or by visiting any of their ticketing booths.

Frequent Flyer Program

The frequent flyer program of Aeromexico is called Club Premier. Membership allows access to exclusive promos and discounts being offered by the company, like cheaper airfares and other vacation packages. Members can also take advantage of discounts on hotel accommodations.

In Flight Services

Passengers of Aeromexico are offered a wide selection of video games, TV series and movies. There are also newspapers and magazines being provided for those who like to read. The staff has also prepared entertainment for kids on long flights.

Aeromexico does not have its own in-flight magazine. However, it does offer other reading materials such as newspapers and many others.

Aeromexico belongs to the SkyTeam airline alliance. The group includes other airline companies such as Delta Air Lines, Korean Air, Northwest Airlines and Continental Airlines.
